Witch's Almanac 15th of November 2025
By mid-November, the Irish landscape has turned wholly inward.
The morning air lies heavy with mist; the hedgerows gleam with frost. The fields that once blazed gold now whisper in greys and silvers, and the breath of every living thing carries the hush of rest to come.
It is a month of reckoning — not with guilt or grief, but with balance.
The fires of Samhain have cooled, their ashes now folded into the soil. The veil between worlds, though thickening, has not yet sealed, and through it the witch senses a faint current — the quiet pull of peace that comes before darkness.
This is the time of the waning crescent moon in Libra — the sign of the Scales — when even the heavens seem to lean toward harmony.
Though the ancients of Ireland did not name this constellation as Libra, they knew its truth through the rhythm of the land — that tender balance between harvest and stillness, between the year’s breath and its resting. In the Craft, we weave these wisdoms together: the old earth’s knowing and the later language of the stars.
The energy now is not one of endings with weight, but of equilibrium restored — the soft pause between breath and exhale, between light and dark.
In the old ways of The Ancient Irish Craft, this night was whispered as Oíche na Meáchain Chiúine — the Night of Gentle Balance.
It was believed that to act in haste, to speak in anger, or to hold onto unrest beneath this moon would carry discord into the dark half of the year.
So the wise folk learned instead to let go gently — to realign their spirits as the moon thinned, and to prepare, with grace, for the renewal that awaited in silence.
The Moon in Libra – The Breath of Stillness
Libra, the Air sign ruled by Venus, governs grace, proportion, and the unseen harmony that holds all things in relationship.
Its element, Air, reminds the witch that balance begins not in the hands but in the breath — unseen, but essential.
The waning crescent under Libra’s scales is a sacred mirror, showing us where our energies lie uneven or unhealed.
It reveals what still clings when release would bring peace, what still demands reaction when stillness would bring truth.
In Irish folk wisdom, the Libra moon was said to “settle the air” — to quiet gossip, smooth quarrels, and untangle threads of tension that lingered after harvest feasts and ancestral rites.
